Fresh Start

So, upon much deliberation, I have decided to make this a media blog! I will be putting anything related to my video work, which I dabble in for fun. This will include, but is not limited to: Trailers, animations, animatics, storyboards and whatnot.

painting skin

Now time to paint the skin. The setting is full of warm colors, and because of that gives the feel of heat. After blending the girls skin I added some sweat (made from a light color in the same skin tone family). I'm starting to color the man now, you can see that before the blending stage I layout a series of cross hatches, to see the majority of certain colors will show in some areas. As with the girl I use color swatches off to the side to easily select the same colors to keep a unity of colors within all of the skin.

just for fun

just for fun, i'm going to show some progressions of how i paint. This piece I will be experimenting with dynamic color lighting. As you may notice my scribbles where the light sources are. i also scribbled in a quick idea of where the background is going. This is a dark picture, so i begin the skin tone with the next to darkest color that will appear on the skin. Since the lighting color is still in the experimental stages i played around with the colors on the face only, to get a feel for how the light reacts with the skin, placing color swatches to the side as a quick reference of the colors that i used. next i'll fill in the rest of the skin with this same color scheme.
